FAQS

SHOULD WE SCHEDULE AN INICIAL MEETING?

Unless you are the busiest person in the world, I do recommend we meet to see if we’re on the same page. We can get together in my studio or schedule a zoom call, so I can get a sense of what your wedding plans are. This way I can create a budget that meets your exact needs. Once you book the date and until the wedding day, we may need to be in touch for a couple of times to get every detail right so you can relax and enjoy your day.

HOW CAN YOU HELP US DURING THE PLANNING PROCESS?

Once you book the date we’ll be working together. I’ll share every tip I’ve learned during the last 12 years shooting weddings, and also in my own. In case you didn’t hire a wedding planner I can help establish a timeline and offer recommendations on other vendors, like Officiants, Makeup artists, Videographers, DJ’s, or anything else you need.

CAN WE GET A COSTUMIZED BUDGET?

Every wedding is unique so I am always willing to costumize the budget according to the needs of each couple. I have a few “standard” options you can choose from but if you feel the need to alter anything I am open to suggestions.

WHAT’S YOUR BASELINE PRICE?

For elopements and small weddings my prices start at 1300€ on week days. For weekend weddings in Portugal the price base is at 1800€. For international shoots it's always custom price, based on days of traveling.

MY WEDDING IS ON A WEEKDAY. DO I GET A DISCOUNT?

It depends. My price is based on my years of experience, the shooting and editing hours,

regardless of the wedding being on the weekend or a weekday. However I do have reduced prices for elopements and very small weddings on weekdays.

DO YOU ADD TRAVELING EXPENSES?

If the wedding is over 100km distance from Vila Nova de Famalicão I will individually charge for traveling expenses.

DO YOU WORK WITH AN ASSISTANT OR SECOND SHOOTER?

In a wedding with 100 guests or more I recommend a second shooter to help me. This way we can separate during the preparations and have two different perspectives during the ceremony and the party. For micro weddings I usually work alone.

HOW MANY PHOTOS WILL YOU DELIVER?

There is no fixed number. Every wedding is different, it depends on what happens during the day. On average I deliver 500 to 700 edited photos.

HOW LONG WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE PHOTOS?

I shoot a lot so I make sure to capture the most important moments. Selecting those photos and then editing them takes its time. Usually the work will be ready for delivery in 60 days after the wedding.

HOW WILL WE GET OUR PHOTOS?

You will receive a box in the mail with a few Fine-Art prints and a pen drive with the edited photos. You will also have access to an online gallery.

CAN WE PRINT THE PHOTOS?

Yes. The photos are delivered in high resolution and you can print in large sizes. If you want me to do the printing you can place the order on the online gallery. I highly recommend you print a few photos, specially in fine art paper that has better quality and durability. If you want to know more about the fine art printing process see here. If you want there’s also the possibility of giving your guests the option to download the photos in high resolution or order the prints.

HOW SOON SHOULD I BOOK?

As soon as you chose your date. Most of my clients make the reservation 8 to 12 months in advance. But I’ve booked weddings only a few weeks before the wedding day. If you want to ask for a budget you can do so here.

I WANT TO BOOK. HOW DO I PROCEED?

I’ll send you a form for you to fill out with some personal information and some details about the wedding. Next I’ll send you the contract through an online platform, so you can sign digitally. At this point you’ll need to pay 30% of the total value.

WHAT ARE THE PAYMENT CONDITIONS?

The payment is done in three steps. 30% when you book the date and sign the contract. 50% thirty days before the wedding and the final 20% when your online gallery is ready. You can pay by bank transfer, credit card or Mbway.

HOW MANY WEDDINGS DO YOU SHOOT PER YEAR?

I never book more than 20 weddings a year, so I can dedicate my full attention and care to each one.

HOW MANY WEDDINGS HAVE YOU DONE?

Quite frankly I lost count. My first wedding was in 2008 and I think I must have shot over 300 weddings across the country. From weddings in Douro, to city weddings in Oporto and Lisbon, beach weddings in Algarve and even in the wonderful islands of Madeira and Azores. I’ve also done a few weddings internationally in Spain, France, Italy, UK, Germany and Switzerland.

HOW MANY HOURS DOES THE FULL COVERAGE ENTAIL?

I usually start shooting while the bride and groom are getting ready and stay until the dance party, which is about 12 hours. If you want a wider coverage, starting before the preparation, with activities like yoga or surf, and you wish me to stay till the very end of the party, you can add that as an extra.

WHEN WILL WE SEE THE FIRST PHOTOS?

After the wedding everyone is always eager to see the photos so I’ll upload some into your online gallery just a few days after.

WHAT IS YOUR EQUIPMENT?

I currently use Nikon DSLR and Mirrorless Full Frame cameras, along with few lenses, like the 35,

50 and 85mm. I usually have two cameras with me and a back up one in my case.

The photos are delivered in the resolution of the cameras. I use Full Frame 24MB files, which is

enough for an excellent print.

CAN OUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY PHOTOGRAPH TOO?

Sure, everyone does it these days. However there are two moments when it’s important nobody’s taking pictures. During the ceremony, especially when the bride and groom are walking down the aisle. Sometimes guests get in the way and prevent me from doing a good job. And also during our portrait session. The presence of other people will prevent us from being at ease and comfortable.

DO YOU EDIT ALL THE PHOTOS?

From the 4000/5000 images I capture I will select 500/700 to edit. Contrast and light adjustments as well as color adjustments are made to all the final photos.

I don’t use photoshop to make dramatic changes to all my photos but I can do it if the situation calls for it.

DO YOU WORK ACROSS THE COUNTRY?

Yes, I’ve done weddings all over the country and even internationally. If you are planning a wedding abroad you can fill out my form and we can talking about all your plans.

SHOULD WE TAKE CARE OF YOUR MEAL ON THE WEDDING DAY?

Yes, if possible. Most venues/caterers have a staff table where our meal is served. If it is not in the same place, it’s important it’s at least at the same time as your own meal, so I can be ready to shoot when something important happens.

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU GET SICK OR ARE QUARANTINED?

Knock on wood... it never happened in my 12 years as a wedding photographer and I hope it never does. However, when you hire a second shooter he can fill in for me in case something happens. Also, along the years I met countless photographers I can reach out to if necessary.

DO YOU MAKE THE TRADITIONAL FAMILY AND GUESTS PORTRAITS?

I think it’s really important to do it with your closest family members, like parents and siblings. As to the rest of the guests I leave that up to you. If it is important to you to have a photo of everyone, this is the only way to assure it. In a documentary work like mine making sure I got a photograph of every guest is almost impossible.

CAN WE COSTUMIZE OUR ALBUM?

I offer many album options to choose from. Book, traditional print and fine art print. Each option comes in different sizes and the final details are all costumizable.
